19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from that period of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured 21 victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
